Peter Jenkin

Peter Jenkin has worked in various clinical, research and education roles in specialist palliative care for more than 25 years, developing an interest very early on of the interface between aged care and palliative care.

In 2011 he became the first, and remained one of only a few ‘in-house’ palliative care NPs in Australia employed by an aged care provider. Last year he moved to Canberra and now works with Clare Holland House in the home-based palliative care service.

Peter teaches in the palliative care post-graduate program at Flinders University and was a member of the National COVID19 Clinical Evidence Taskforce: Care of Older People and Palliative Care expert panel.

In 2022 he was named the HESTA Nurse Practitioner of the Year.

He remains actively involved at a local, state, and national level working to improve the care of older Australians as they approach the end of their lives.
