Ever wonder why you might approach Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples like you’re facing a cassowary in the wild—nervous, cautious, and terrified of making the wrong move? This workshop uses humour as a bridge to break down those fears and create genuine, respectful connections. This workshop flips the script on conventional palliative care by centring Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander knowledge, values, and practices within a Comfort Care approach. Through stories, laughter, and collaboration with Knowledge Holders, we’ll explore practical strategies for building trust, dismantling stereotypes, and delivering care that is holistic, meaningful, and culturally responsive. Because connecting with people shouldn’t feel like a survival course—and no one’s getting disembowelled.
