Dr Caroline Phelan is a nurse academic and clinician with over 30 years’ experience in pain management, palliative, and endoflife care across acute and critical care settings. She has extensive clinical and educational experience supporting people with complex pain, particularly at the interface of acute care, serious illness, and endoflife. Her work is informed by strong interprofessional collaboration across medicine, nursing, and allied health.
Dr Phelan is a Senior Lecturer at Flinders University, teaching into the Postgraduate Palliative and End of Life Care programs, and is an active researcher with the Flinders Research Centre for Palliative Care, Death & Dying. Dr Phelan is also Chief Investigator of EndofLife Essentials, a Commonwealthfunded national program supporting clinicians to improve the quality and safety of endoflife care in hospitals.
