Biography:
Jen has work in palliative care started last century. Since 2006 she has worked as a Palliative Care Nurse Practitioner based in Wagga Wagga NSW. Her geographical footprint covers regional, remote and rural areas and this experience has formed her advocacy for accessible palliative care to all. She is a keen supporter of nurse led models of care and believes in the positive impact of being kind.
Abstract:
Feeling rough, under the weather, queasy, bleurgh….., can’t keep anything down, retching, green at the gills, thought of food makes me sick…., bilious, up-chuck, driving the porcelain bus, I just feel a little bit off………………….translating descriptors into quality care for our patients with nausea and vomiting. The aim of this session is to invite the participants to reflect on their clinical practice and the importance of utilising patient language to drive clinical assessment and treatment.
