Jeanette Lacey

Jeanette Lacey has been a Nurse Practitioner End of Life Care at the John Hunter Hospital (JHH), Hunter New England Local Health District since 2015. She provides support to patients expected to die during their hospital admission; as well as support and education for the generalist workforce involved in care of patents at the end of life. She has almost 30 years of nursing experience in Acute/Critical Care, and as an organ and tissue donation specialist nurse. In 2023 clinical co-lead of the NSW Voluntary assisted dying clinical advisory group, and worked with NSW health and local district on voluntary assisted dying implementation. Jeanette is on the National advisory groups for end-of-life essentials and end-of-life law for clinicians. Jeanette also volunteers with the Newcastle compassionate community group aiming to improve death literacy in our community. She contributes to research and has published in multiple peer-reviewed journals.

She is passionate about improving care of the dying and ensuring that all people receive compassionate and individual end of life care.
